Advisers Choosing to Outsource QROPS Advice

Posted: 28 May 2009

With over 300,000 people migrating from the UK each year, an area that is increasingly growing in demand is access to (Qualifying Recognised Overseas Pension Schemes) QROPS.

The team at Offshore QROPS are finding an increasing number of advisers and other professionals are choosing to outsource QROPS advice to specialist advisers in this field.

Offshore QROPS have found that advisers who are not prepared to spend the time and money required researching QROPS and providing the required advice and taking on the compliance risk for clients emigrating or retiring abroad (which usually represents only a small part of their business) are instead searching for specialists that have already conducted this research and are experts in the area to refer their clients to. Referring clients to a QROPS specialist allows them to focus and concentrate their efforts on their core business and at the same time; treat their customers fairly by recommending a specialist in the same way they would recommend a suitably qualified Solicitor for a client who requires a will.

To cater for this, Offshore QROPS has put together a service for advisers who wish to outsource the work, with varying levels of service to suit their requirements. This may be signing off the advice for a fixed fee, or handling the entire process for them. In return Offshore QROPS will pay an agreed percentage of commission as a referral fee.

Offshore QROPS and its parent organisation have been advising on overseas pension transfers since 1995, and have successfully completed thousands of overseas transfers. Offshore QROPS parent company was consulted by HMRC on the introduction of QROPS and were recently awarded third place in Money Marketing’s small IFA of the Year award for recognition of work in the field of QROPS advice.
